The Cyclones lost a hard fought battle in their conference opener to Van Buren, 49-42.
The Pointers scored the game winning touchdown in a back and forth game with 3:11 left on the clock, capping off an 81 yard 4 minute drive.
Russellville had battled back from two scores down to tie the game wtih just under 8 minutes left when Marcellus Olson hit Julius Thompson for a 10 yard touchdown pass.
Sam Callahan had a fantastic game for the Cyclones rushing for a career high 4 touchdowns, on 14 carries for 152 yards. Olson rushed for 182, as the Cyclones amassed 400 yards on the ground.
The Cyclones fall to 0-1 in conference play and will host top ranked Greenwood next Friday night at Cyclone Stadium at 7pm
