On Saturday the Cyclones and Lady Cyclones Cross Country teams traveled to Springdale to compete in the very competitive Saints Invitational. It was a very challenging course in warm conditions.
The Cyclones had a great opener defeating all 5A competition soundly and finishing 3rd. Junior Carson Walker started his junior campaign with an impressive 16:15 and finished 3rd overall. Senior Jaxon Smith continues to improve, clocking 16:53 and medaling in 6th. Juniors Anmol Shrestha and Jeremy Amaya ran strong to go 4 and 5. Sophomore Ezra Witter rounded out the scoring.
The Lady Cyclones have really come together with so many new runners.They finished third overall as well. Sophomore Grace Ruple is the front runner and leader. She medaled in 16th. Senior Emily DeCosta is new to the team and has been an inspiration medaling in 17th. Steady junior Alyvia Davies was third for the team. Freshman Rowan Lawlis has really come on. Sophomore Quinn Shaefer has been a huge surprise.
The Whirlwinds and Gales traveled to Maumelle for the Falcon Invitational. The Junior boys who have won 4 straight conference championships continued their winning ways dominating the meet, winning by over 30 points. The girls were a close third.
The Whirlwinds had 4 of the top 9 finishers. Freshman Issac Paul was overall Medalist. Asher Trigg was third, Hank Walker 8th, 8th grader Austin Lindsey 9th and Douglas Lovan rounded out the scoring.
Freshman Emerson Brown continues to run great, finishing third overall. Shaleigh Jackson, Caroline Payne,Miranda Heinzen and Brooklyn Davis all had great meets to round all the scoring .
All 4 teams return to action Saturday Sept 12th in North Little Rock at the Minute Man Invitational.
